About Christine…
Growing up on a farm in Central Queensland, I have a practical and realistic approach to life that marries well with providing health care services.
I graduated from the University of Queensland in 2008 and have over 16 years of experience in a range of settings from community/outpatient clinics through to acute medical, stroke, rehabilitation and palliation wards. I have worked in remote, rural, regional and metropolitan service models (London is best navigated on a bicycle…) bringing the best bits of what I learnt with me.
I am incredibly passionate about providing a quality service that integrates the latest evidence with a client’s expectations and specific situation and preferences.
How I work…
Day to day, I’m a goal setting, task orientated creature (with a healthy dose of reality) who likes to collaborate, whether that is with a family unit or a broader multi-disciplinary team. I tend not to beat around the bush when it comes to explaining pros/cons and health care options.
It’s a privilege to support and guide clients and their families through decisions when it comes to difficulties with swallowing and communication and I feel so lucky to have found this profession.
Speech Pathology services stretch into many niche areas and support people in countless ways. I’ve learnt a lot in my career, but there’s always more to learn. If I don’t know the answer, I will tell you (and then head off to figure it out).
